Hey. Just wondering how long it typically takes any of you to get things done, if you find yourself spending too much or too little amount of time on things. Also wondering if any of you had any tips for gauging how long you do things, and balancing your free time and work time during week days.
As ridiculous as this may sound, I actually make a schedule to follow during the semester. Put in a reasonable amount of time for homework each day, a specific time to do house chores, and a bit of time to chill.
well, a schedule is great if you have the discipline to follow it, its certainly what is recommended in the final few years of school, that is, senior high for you US people. I found i stuck to one for a while, though I'm quite a procrastinator, and that didn't change at uni, so i'm not really a good one to talk to...i generally got my work done though, *grin. you also tend to spend less time on things you dont enjoy doing and vice versa, so if you can allocate realistic amounts of time per task, regardless of what you think of them...well, things may just get done
i like doing homework on the day it is set.
that way i know it is done
Thanks guys...your tips are helpful....and yeah I try to do the same Stargate, unless they're really big assignments that aren't meant to be done in one day, or if I don't feel like it, lol. and amber, i like your suggestion, I should seriously try that.
I should make a schedule I try to do things as they come up too or I have a few methods that i have employed recently such as saturday i was unpacking and cleaning m y dorm room I decided the computer would be the last thing i unpacked which gave me insintive to finish my cleaning and unpacking in other words finish work before fun
I think writing a schedule is a very good idea. I've tried before to plan out and write a schedule for what I would do every hour, but it didn't work because I had misplaced the schedule. But starting this semester, I have written my class schedule in Braille and am going to Braille out a general schedule and then a schedule from the syllabi I get for these next few days. I have a binder for these things so that I can't misplace them this time. Also, I ordered a planner and hope that will be coming in very soon.
I know this topic has been lost for quite a long while, but I still want to give in my opinion so here goes. I usually get the syllabus from each of my professors in the first day of class and then, I base my schedule depending on the pile of work demanded for each class. I also agree with the second post that you should give time to do homework, house chores, a job, and chill out a little bit. It works out pretty well If you do a schedule, but sometimes it depends on the number of classes you have and whether or not you have a job that collides with your studying hours. I usually take three hours or less to finish a a homework, its not bad as long as you know what your working on.
I am a college student and have gone crazy this semester with time management, since I've had so much to do at the same time, so here's what I do. Whenever I get the syllabi from the professors, I scan them in to my computer and read them. If there is a reading schedule, I look every day to see what has to be read by when and start reading, which usually takes about two to three hours, depending on how much I have to read, since college textbook chapters r extremely long. I tried to do the homework for that day's classes that day.
I am a totally obsessed with computers, so a schedule doesn’t work. It’s like, whoops, I forgot about homework. I try to do homework in my classes, and that does lessen the load. Yay, I love sneaking in homework in class. Though, I tend to not know what to say when my teachers inquire what that extra paper is.
